BVCHC Participates in Diabetes Dental Collaborative
March 26th, 2010
BVCHC’s Dental Department will participate in the Rhode Island Diabetes Dental Office Collaborative (RIDDOC) research study, conducted by the University at Buffalo and funded by Delta Dental of Rhode Island. The goal of the study is to develop a useful method for detecting undiagnosed diabetes and pre-diabetes in a dental office or clinic. The Dental Office is a health care point of contact for a large portion of the U.S. Population. Since about two-thirds of Americans see a dentist at least once every year, the study will test the effectiveness of the dental office in screening for undiagnosed diabetes and pre-diabetes.
